How to View Adobe Flash Content in SMART Notebook

With the release of SMART Notebook 17, Adobe Flash content is no longer supported in SMART Notebook software.

To the greatest extent possible, SMART Notebook software allows you to access existing Adobe Flash content in your .notebook files. Depending on the type of Flash item, your Flash content can still be accessed either as SMART lab activities or widgets, or can be opened in a web browser. Take a look at the information below that outlines the different types of Adobe Flash conversion options.

Adobe Flash objects are converted to SMART lab activities or widgets in SMART Notebook

Because Adobe Flash is no longer supported in SMART Notebook 17 software, SMART Notebook software now replaces the outdated Adobe Flash content with widgets or SMART lab activities that perform the same task. Currently, SMART Notebook software replaces the following Flash activities:

  • Clock
  • Dice
  • Pull tab
  • Spinner
  • Timer

The chart below outlines what SMART lab activity or widget replaces specific Flash activity types:

Adobe Flash content is not supported in SMART Notebook but can be created in a web browser

For Adobe Flash content that is not supported in SMART Notebook, you can create the activity in a web browser. If the Adobe Flash content can be played in a Flash-enabled web browser, SMART Notebook software displays a placeholder with the Flash icon in place of the original content. Simply click the placeholder to create and play content in the default web browser. Note this requires you to create your content in your browser, and you will not be saving your activity to your Notebook file.

Adobe Flash Objects NOT Supported in SMART Notebook

If the Adobe Flash content in SMART Notebook software appears only as a gray box and the Flash content cannot be opened in a web browser, which means that specific content is no longer available.
