Teq rolls out new professional development courses for teachers and administrators to support growing K12 Chromebook implementations.

Teq (www.teq.com) has increased its number of online and onsite Professional Development courses focused on the effective use of Chromebooks in the classroom. Courses were added to meet the increased popularity of the devices in K12 classrooms.
Since being introduced to the market in 2011, the Chromebook has seen increased popularity in classrooms due to their simple, fast start up-and-use capability. According to IDC analyst Linn Huang, “In the third quarter of 2016, Chromebooks made up 54% of computer shipments to K12 classrooms in the United States.”
To meet the needs of educators, Teq has expanded its Chromebook PD offerings to include courses for both administrators and teachers.
This month, Teq published three new Chromebook courses—Chromebooks: Getting your Students Started, Apps and Extensions, and Best Practices for Classroom Chromebooks.
Currently available in Teq’s lesson archive are Google, G Suite, and Chromebook courses for school Administrators include Administering Chrome Devices and Identifying Effective Technology Use, while courses for teachers include Effective Chromebook Use in the Classroom, and the Digital Teacher Certification Course for G Suite (formerly Google Apps for Education).
“The continued growth and popularity of Google Chromebooks and G Suite is evident in many schools,” said Director of eLearning, Joseph Sanfilippo. “With these courses, we can enable initiatives, like a paperless classroom. Whether they are used for creative writing in an ELA classroom, or for providing virtual manipulatives to each math student, Chromebooks make a lot of things possible, but only if our educators have the support they need to execute the instruction.”
Teq professional development is an approved New York State CTLE PD provider, and an approved PD provider for teacher certification requirements in Arkansas, Delaware, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, West Virginia, and Wyoming. For a complete and up-to-date list of how Teq’s PD can be used to maintain state teaching credentials in all 50 states, visit www.teq.com/ctle-approved/.
