When Adobe Flash No Longer Works in SMART Notebook...

When SMART released the newest versions of SMART Notebook (16.2 and later), many users noticed that Adobe® Flash® ceased to function on Notebook pages. This led to a lot of stress about how to bring back the interactivity of those lessons with the new format. Well, stress no more! HTML widgets for SMART Notebook add interactivity without having to wait for SMART Labs to update with content.

HTML Widgets Save the Day!

Did you know widgets can bring fun HTML content into SMART Notebook? These HTML widgets for SMART Notebook are available from the SMART Exchange. There are about fifty widgets available that can be used to supplement lessons within SMART Notebook.

*These are not SMART Lab activities – they are added to the My Content section of the Gallery within SMART Notebook.

Some Great Widgets (and How to Use Them)

Clock (1.0.2)

Practice telling time with this interactive widget! Move the clock hands to a desired time, and have students write the time digitally. Next, drag the ink to check the answer.

JoliPuzzle (1.0.1)

Create your own custom puzzle by dragging an image into this widget, either from the Gallery, your files, or from a web page. Set the number of rows and columns to change the difficulty level.

Visual Fractions (1.0.0)

Write fractions into the widget and then overlay an image representing the fraction onto the SMART Notebook page. Choose from pie, squares, bars, or spots.

Grouper Tool (1.0.0)

This widget moves all unlocked objects on a page into randomly sorted  groups. This tool is great for random group assignments.

Random Object Selector (1.0.0)

To randomly select items on your SMART Notebook page, create your page, add the widget, and press “GO” to randomly select the objects on the page. This is ideal for choosing a student for a task, or a question for the class to answer.

Six Thinking Hats (1.0.0)

This widget helps you to run the Six Thinking Hats method in your lesson. This method teaches students to analyze a problem or idea from a different perspective. Each hat (or perspective) is explained, and questions help to trigger thought processes.
