Extensions are powerful additions to the Chrome browser that add extra functionality to websites and applications. Some of these extensions work by adding features to individual apps (think Google Meet Grid view) or to all websites that are visited in Chrome, like the Google Translate extension. Let’s take a look at some of the top extensions for educators and see how they can help add value.

#1: Mote

With the Mote extension, you can add voice notes and feedback to a Google Doc. When you press the comment button on the toolbar, or on the right-hand side of the document (after you select text), there will be a purple button. After clicking the purple button, your voice will be recorded. Now, your students or colleagues will be able to hear what you said when they click on the comment box on the right side of the doc.

#2: Sir Links-a-Lot

Trying to share a file with your students/colleagues but want to make sure they have their own copy straight away? With Sir Links-a-lot, you can make sure that the recipient will have a copy of the file created automatically in their own Google Drive. This extension also offers options to force a preview of a document (think final draft view), creating a template of the file, or converting it into a PDF.

#3: Web Paint

Web Paint is a great tool for writing on top of documents in your Chrome browser — simply use the ink tool to highlight notes. This comes in particularly handy when you are conducting a synchronous remote class and would like to make annotations on a worksheet or text that you are demonstrating to students.
