SAFARI Montage is a Learning Object Repository (LOR) and Digital Media and Curriculum Delivery solution. It is being adopted more and more by districts that want a single interface for accessing and managing all of their digital resources.
As with any enterprise-wide solution, there is a professional development component to help the district’s administrators and teachers become comfortable using the system. Teq conducts SAFARI Montage training and professional development, and, after a few months of delivering these session, I’ve been able to put together the following series of videos that I’ll call the 6 Steps to Getting Started Using SAFARI Montage.
Here are the videos and a brief description of the content:
1. Installing the Browser Plug-in for SAFARI Montage
Before you can use SAFARI Montage, you need to have the browser plug-in installed. It’s a quick install, and you have to quit and restart the browser, fairly painless.
2. Searching for Content on SAFARI Montage
SAFARI Montage has a vast amount of content, so being able to find content on a specific topic is key. This video shows you how to search SAFARI Montage by keyword or subject area.
3. Searching SAFARI Montage by Standard
You can conveniently perform searches within SAFARI Montage by state standards or Common Core Standards. Here’s how.
4. Creating and Adding Content to Playlists
Content in SAFARI Montage can be grouped into “Playlists” for use in lessons. Here’s how to create a playlist and add content to it.
5. Organizing and Managing Playlists
This video shows you how to organize your playlists into folders and share them with other teachers in your school.
6. Creation Station and Uploading Content
With SAFARI Montage’s CreationStation, you can upload your own content and share it with others teachers in your school.
If you have any questions, or need help integrating SAFARI Montage into your lesson planning or curriculum designing, please feel free to email us.
