Looking for a note taking app that is way more than just a text app? Then you should check out Notability! Notability is a comprehensive app that allows your students to take notes and create documents that combine text with images, annotations, and sound.
Students (or teachers) can organize their notes into sections based off of their classes or any user defined category. Then they can add either single page or multi-page notes. Pages can include text boxes which students can enter anywhere on the page. They can also import images, web clips, or PDFs (as images), and annotate directly on top of them.
One of the unique and fantastic features of Notability is that you can record audio. During a lecture, or for teachers during a meeting, the user can record audio while taking notes. Notes made will link to the audio so when listening to your recording later you will see your notes animate! This is a great built in differentiation tool so students who need it can record and then playback later for review. Teachers can also use this tool by importing a students work as an image and providing feedback via audio and annotations.
Notes can also easily be shared to a variety of different apps either as a PDF or as a text file. Depending on the way you choose to share your note you can also include the recording. Notability is a paid app, $2.99 through the iTunes Web store, and offers comprehensive tools to assist students in retention and demonstrating understanding. Teachers can use Notability to organize their own notes as well as provide differentiated feedback and instruction to their students.
You can purchase Notability from the iTunes Web store here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/notability/id360593530?mt=8
