SMART kapp—SMART’s modern day dry-erase board—has been making its way into classrooms nationwide. Designed to enrich small group collaboration by allowing students to naturally capture discussion notes and then digitally share them, students can focus on class discussion, rather than copying notes.
Take a look at how you can use the SMART kapp to capture notes and help your students in 5 simple steps.
1. Download the free SMART kapp app for iOS or Android
Note that this app is only needed for the teacher! This is how notes are shared with students.
2. Connect your device to SMART kapp using Bluetooth
No Wi-Fi required. Simply turn on the Bluetooth connection on your device and scan the QR code in the left hand bottom corner of the board. Once you’re connected, the Bluetooth light on the board will activate letting you know that you are ready to start writing. Remember—this step is only for the teacher.
3. Pick up any dry erase marker and start writing.
Use different colors, sizes and brands of markers to make your notes as clear and detailed as you would like.
4. Take snapshots of each step
To highlight the most important steps or points of the lesson for your students, press the camera icon on the board to take snapshots. Students can reference these notes later to help them with their homework and also allow them to determine key steps or points they may not understand.
5. You’re ready to share
Simply click the “share” button within the SMART kapp app to email the link to students so they can access the live content of the board and the note snapshots.
Teachers can also take pictures throughout their lessons, erase them, and start over; all of their snapshots are stored within the app on their device to share with students at any time. If students choose to take snapshots themselves, they can also do so within their view.
